Casablanca financial center of the Maghreb and Francophone Africa is a strategic project for Morocco. The African Institute of Risk Management (IARM) aims to contribute to the success of this ambitious initiative by participating in the creation of synergies between financial professionals and academia. Inall major financial centers there is a natural proximity between financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, fund managers, hedge funds), stock exchangesand universities. This proximity contributes to the creation and animationof a vital talent pool which contributes to the competitiveness of the financial system.
In financial institutions quantitative research is the engine of financial innovation, as it is with R & D for an industrial or a pharmaceutical group. Quantitative research and financial engineering have become in less than twenty years the engines of the process of financial innovation. They use the talents trained by the university. The quality of applied research conductedin financial institutions depends ontheexcellence of academic research, and academic research feeds itself onthe problems faced by financial institutions. The African Institute for Risk -Management (IMRA) aims to develop this symbiotic relationship between applied research and academic research in Morocco, in the Francophone Africa and in the international community.
The creation of the IARM was initiated by a group of experts from the Moroccan diaspora living in France and academicsfrom the International University of Rabat. The ambition of the IARM is to become an active meetingplacewhich stimulates the interactionsbetween researchers and economic actors.
The first actions of the IARM demonstrate its ability to federatearound its collaborative project academic and professional partners, as well as scientists of international renown. The IARM has already launched several initiatives:
A scientific committee of international renown is set up to advice the Management Committee on strategic issues, the scientific policy of the Institute and for managing and monitoring scientific research projects.
The IARM is a collaborative project between different academic communities at the international level, between professional and academics, and between Morocco and the Moroccan diaspora. For the IARM to succeed, it should federate all the talents in orderto actively participate in the transfer of knowledge between the academic and the financial industry.
Potential members of the IARM are individuals, or entities strongly motivated in contributing to the development of research in finance and insurance in Africa, by promoting interactions between academic researchers and professionals.
We invite all people of goodwill: institutions, researchers, professionals, to join the IARM to participate in the developmentof research and economic prosperity inthe African continent.
